Making A Runner - A podcast by Nic Acampora

On this episode of MAR we chat to Mike Wardian and take a brief look into his adventure-filled running journey (thus far).As for running, the man is a "Jack-of-all-trades" and even a master of some, holding numerous former records including: US championship titles in the 50km and 100km distance, fastest marathon run on a treadmill, and fastest marathon completed in an Elvis Presley costume. He is also well-known for participating in a vast number of events that may be deemed "crazy" or even "impossible" such as the time in 2017 where he completed 7 marathons in 7 days on 7 different continents, averaging a record time of 2:45 and if that doesn't raise a brow, the day after he completed the 5200km crossing of the USA he ran a 5km in a time of 18:42 to celebrate!Comrades Marathon brought Mike to local shores where we got to chat to him at the Expo - but this was not Mike's first rodeo with the Ultimate Human Race - in 2011 he finished in 11th place! Naturally our question to Mike was: "what keeps you running (and so well) after all these years?". Listen to find out more about his motivations, the philanthropic work he does with World Vision and the key to his running success. This is the kind of conversation that will have you eager to lace up and hit the road in pursuit of a new running adventure!
