In this episode for June, we took advantage of Olivia's parents' visit to her to record a special Father's Day episode with her dad, Fred Allison, who is a historian by day and a writer by evenings/weekends. He has published several books and articles about military history. His most recent book is We Were Going to Win, Or Die There, a book based on numerous oral history interviews he did with the Marine Roy H. Elrod. This book has recently won a Marine Corps Heritage award. We loved talking to him on a range of topics, from the "ugly business" of cutting down the word count, working on too many projects at once, and being brave and quitting your job when you have four kids. And, how to think like a fighter pilot when you're writing. You can listen to the episode right here on this page, or get Marginally on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play, or wherever get your podcasts.
