Stephanie Willerth, the CEO of biotech start-up Axolotl Biosciences based in Victoria, British Columbia Canada has created a novel bioink that is allowing researchers throughout the world to 3D bioprint organoids. This technology is certainly changing medicine and may very well disrupt traditional mechanical artificial organs. Imagine a world where a patient’s bad kidney could be scanned, fixed in software, bioprinted and seamlessly transplanted. The work Stephanie and her team is doing, will get us there and that’s why I asked, What happens when What if becomes What is.
