This is a Horror Movie Award show of epic proportions. We had far too much fun in the recording & preparation of this episode, and yes, we put a ridiculous amount of work into this. The glorious result is perhaps we reached our wit’s end. But as usual, an overworked and overtired Michael of Oscar is the best kind of Michael of Oscar. Because when caffeinated, your Mikes tend to be at their best when we’re burning that candle at both ends. So again, we’re very pleased to bring you this tribute to our favorite horror films. This installment in The Scaries will focus on several relevant topics. We just released episode 120: the Horror Hot Takes, which covered all the latest and greatest horror movie news. Here, we recapped our year in horror film coverage, we updated you on the Oscar campaigns of some of our favorite horror episodes like A Quiet Place and Hereditary, and we followed up on our series reviews of The Conjuring Universe and the Michael Myers / Halloween franchise. Therefore, we began with a New Movies Section in this year’s Scaries to discuss all the films we’ve loved and hope to love in the coming months and year. Then we dove headlong into a section on Slasher Films. With our Halloween franchise re-watch now in the catalog, we’ve built our confidence in analyzing the entire genre of blood. Since we’ve often loved to keep you updated on creature features, we then included a section on those movies from the old school hallmarks of the Universal monster golden age to today’s bests. Our Conjuring Universe review sparked our interest in a Haunting / Ghost section after that, and we fittingly decided to cover Horror-Comedy since we dedicated last awards season to an appreciation of Jordan Peele’s Get Out. We finish with a bunch of funny nonsense and what-if categories. If you’ve listened to our show before, you know this is the most necessary evil.
