How to stop beating yourself up - with guided meditation

Mindfulness For Beginners - A podcast by Shaun Donaghy

We can sometimes be our harshest critic, beating ourselves up for minor errors that other people don't even notice. If this is a common occurrence for you, mindfulness can help to reduce your suffering.  The Buddhist tradition talks about the idea of the 'second arrow' - the first are everyday events or thoughts that cause us pain, while the second is our reaction to it. Often the second arrow can hurt us more than the first; but by being present with our difficult thoughts - even angry, negative thoughts towards ourselves - we can transform our suffering into happiness and learn to be kind to ourselves as we would to a friend in pain.
