This week we talk to Emily & Lindsay, Occupational Therapists and co-authors of Sensory Babies, educational sensory training courses for all neonatal and early intervention providers. You can find them on instagram @sensorybabiesuk Emily is a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist running a small private practice in London and working in a level 2 and level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), in London. In the NICU Emily leads on developmental care, neurobehavioral and neurodevelopmental assessments and developmental interventions including follow up after discharge.  Emily is passionate about family-centred care and creating the optimal sensory environment for the preterm baby and their family. Lindsay is Director of Clinical Services at Pace, a therapy and education centre for children from birth -18 years. At Pace Lindsay leads a team of occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech & language therapists who provide Early Intervention Services for ex-preterm infants and those at risk of developmental delay, therapy for children with cerebral palsy, Autistic spectrum and other learning difficulties and emotional-behavioural challenges. She provides clinical supervision and mentoring to a number of therapists working within the NHS and privately and has developed a number of courses on child development, neurodevelopment and sensory processing. We talk more about the role of an OT in NICU and beyond, developmental milestones in NICU babies, what parents can do to aid their babies' development post-discharge and whether we really do need a Tuff Tray.
