Understanding your locus of control is vital if you wish to understand what separates the doers from the procrastinators. It's difficult to see the opportunities that are available to you when your thinking is itself limited to a particular world view. Your particular world view becomes dogmatized and instead of being open to other world views, other opportunities... you're more inclined to defend your world view. Hence why you experience little to no growth even though you say you may wish for it.
