Today's podcast guest is Christine Duffy, one of the most influential leaders in the Cruise Line and Travel Industry.  She shares her story of humble beginnings in Philadelphia to the appreciation of travel and exploration of people.  As she describes growing up as "Blue Collar", her mother taught sewing lessons to the neighbors and independently raised her two girls in a glamorous manner.  Her work ethic and drive led her from starting in the travel industry as an assistant to climbing her way to the top position 19 years later.  The acceleration was due to her love of leadership, people, business, and travel.   We discuss: -The influence of Philadelphia and her marriage of 40+ years to the love of her life -The creativity of her mother and examples set for independence and self-reliance -Never forgetting her roots and treating everyone with exceptional kindness and respect -Growing business and taking everyone along A remarkable President, Leader, and Human Being!!! Celebrating 6 years with Carnival, Christine joined in 2015 after a successful tenure as president and CEO of the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), which represents the $120 billion global cruise industry.   She has been a strong supporter of women’s leadership in the travel industry. She was recently named by Women Leading Travel & Hospitality as one of its top women in travel and hospitality. She is also a member of The Committee of 200, made up of the world’s most successful women business leaders. She has also been honored by the Convention Industry Council and the U.S. Coast Guard, among others. Christine was a member of the Joint Civilian Orientation Conference class of 2018, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious public liaison program for the Department of Defense.
