Listen and learn about how the sea influenced his life and his leadership skills, how he continues to face risk and challenges head on, and why the pandemic presented a lovely opportunity to spend more quality time with his wife.  He is a man that is seemingly GREAT at everything.  He is part James Bond (with sophisticated swagger) and part Coach (humble and authentic) that only wants the best for his team.  He has the self-awareness of a great leader and the authenticity of a grandfather.   At one of our first team softball events, I'll never forget that Mr. Cooper prioritized the game and arrived despite flying all night from an international trip.  He was there to support the team.  While he kept his jersey in a bag just in case,, his role was to offer assistance only if the team needed it.  He would never insert himself into the game or replace anyone's position, despite being better than most of us.  Servant Leadership and taking care of others.   It was and never is about him... it was and is ALWAYS ABOUT OTHERS.  This remarkable President and CEO would remain on the sidelines encouraging his colleagues.  When a ball would go foul, often into the thick bushes and poison ivy, he went to get it so we could continue playing.  A luxury hotelier responsible for a $4B company retrieving OUR foul balls from the weeds!  Humble and Authentic.  Always about the team! -Why he believes INTEREST is more important than ABILITY -How the SEA provided the right FIT and ENVIRONMENT for him, just like his career in hospitality -Why he views his VOCATION as a VACATION -How a broken boat allowed for some of his greatest learnings -How finding round peg talent and placing into round hole opportunities helped him to lead more effectively Simon is currently the Principal of Simon Cooper & Associates, the past President of Asia/Pacific for Marriott International based in Hong Kong, the former President of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, and Corporate Hotelier of the World award recipient.  An incredible gentleman and remarkable leader.   Most People Don't | Resources Please like & share to help others find these words of wisdom.
