Dr. Garbis is a Certified Orthopaedic surgeon of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is an Orthopedic surgeon who diagnoses and treats muscle, bone, and joint disorders, as well as sports injuries, degenerative illnesses, cancers, infections, and birth abnormalities.  He is particularly interested in difficult shoulder repairs, such as reverse and complete shoulder replacement. Also, he subspecializes in general orthopedic surgery, elbow surgery, orthopedic sports medicine, and should surgery. Dr. Garbis earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering with a focus in Biomaterials from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He received his medical degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago and then went on to finish his Orthopedic Surgery residency at Rush University Medical Center. He then spent a year at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, after his residency. He obtained fellowship training in advanced shoulder and elbow surgery, including complicated reconstruction, replacement, and arthroscopy, while there. He conducts clinical and fundamental scientific research and has presented his findings at several regional, national, and worldwide conferences. Dr. Garbis is a participant in the American Orthopaedic Association’s Emerging Leaders Program.
