Black Beauty Experiences Matter

Naked Beauty - A podcast by Brooke DeVard

While the past few weeks have been exhausting for many of us in the black community, inequality has always been a part of the narrative. And yet still, we create, innovate and continue to push boundaries. This is our magic, and on Naked Beauty, it is something that I have tried to highlight through a number of black women. With that, I decided to use this episode to revisit their experiences, and their collective articulation of both the beauty and the struggle of simply being themselves. So please, sit back, listen and reflect. This is a message that needs to be heard.  Guests in order of appearance: Maya Allen / @mayaalenaa / Never Let Them See You Sweat Akili King / @akili_ / Part of Something Way Bigger Nana Agyemang / @itsreallynana / Braids at the Met Gala Kimberly Drew / @museummammy / You Can’t Flex On Me Luv, I’m Proud of You Madison Utendahl / @madison.utendahl / Trust the Timing of Your Life Diarrha N’Diaye / @diarrhaxo / Fighting for Our Dreams Raisa Flowers / @raisaflowers / “People Say That I’m Walking Art” Julee Wilson / @missjulee / Unapologetically Me / Cosmopolitan: 125 Best Black-Owned Beauty Brands to Support Right Freakin Now Mandy Harris Williams / @idealblackfemale / Deconstructing the “Ideal” Black Female Hannah Bronfman / Hosted on Acast.
