Since 2016, Tyler Prater has found his home in the St. Louis, MO Fire Department. Working with a few busy engine companies, his road always lead back to the Rescue Company on the northside. Early on, his exposure to the tech rescue skills came from his days with the volunteer fire department. The opportunities were endless and he was hungry to learn as much as he could about the job. Attending a high school program that promoted the emergency services help seal the deal for his wanting to pursue a career in firefighting. Spending a few years with the National Guard, his passion of the fire service continued to grow along with his thirst for knowledge of the special services. His time on the rescue has placed him on many building fires over the years. Like many urban setting, the majority of fires are happening in "vacant" buildings. Tyler put together a program that addresses fires in these buildings and he believes that fires are fought from the inside out. His program titled "Occupied Until Proven Vacant" dials in on thee types of structures and the strategy and tactics needed to deal with "vacants". If Tyler is not in the firehouse, he is on the road teaching his passion with his company Muddy River Divers and Muddy River Training Consultants. Tyler is all in on the job which is evident throughout this entire conversation.
