Episode 7: Mohair (Carmen's Mom)

OFF-AIR with Carmen - A podcast by Carmen Brown

This week’s episode is really special to me. I get to introduce you to my mom, who I affectionately call Mohair. You’ll hear how she got that name. Not unlike a lot of folks, I grew up with a single mom, in low-income housing. I remember my mom working two jobs just to keep mac n cheese on the table. We may not have had a lot, but I wouldn’t trade the way I was raised for anything. My mom taught me about perseverance, how to be resourceful, and how to laugh through any circumstance. She’s never taken herself too seriously, and that is a gift she - for sure -  has passed on to me. My mom is southern through and through. She’s also hysterical. She keeps us laughing all the time, and she’s known for saying the “quiet parts” out loud!  In our sit-down, you’ll hear about the time I got in the most trouble in high school, her MS diagnosis, and when I told her I was pregnant. We share some really personal moments. I love my mom so much. And I’m really eager to share her with you.
