In 1987, the United Nations Brundtland Commission defined sustainability as “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” How far we have come; and how far we have yet to go. In a recent IBM Institute for Business Value study, almost half of CEOs indicate that increasing sustainability is one of the highest priorities for their organization in the next 2 to 3 years. However, despite the enthusiasm, they are encountering significant obstacles, with 57% of CEOs identifying difficulty clearly defining and measuring ROI and economic benefits as one of the greatest challenges to achieving sustainability objectives. In this episode of One Vision, Theo chats with Andy Barnes, Executive IT Architect and Member of the IBM Academy of Technology, on IBM’s efforts in championing sustainability and responsible computing. Green computing (or Green IT) is an essential enabler in helping organizations meet their sustainability goals. The time to act is now. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
