Thomas is joined by playwright, author, performer, activist, and creator of “The Vagina Monologues,” V (formerly Eve Ensler.) They discuss the profound impact of trauma and the power of healing through collective and community-based approaches. V shares her personal journey from a tumultuous childhood to becoming a global advocate for women's rights, emphasizing the transformative power of love, art, performance, and community in overcoming trauma and reckoning with the harms of patriarchy. They explore the revolutionary work of the City of Joy in Congo, and how its unique, supportive environment fosters healing and helps elevate women into community leaders. V's experiences in war zones and with victims of violence highlight the pervasive and normalized violence against women, influencing her life's mission to address this global issue. This conversation includes the topic of sexual abuse. While it is not the primary topic, and it is addressed with care and sensitivity, we wanted to offer this content warning for listeners who may not want to engage with this subject. ✨ Order Thomas’ new book, “Attuned: Practicing Interdependence to Heal Our Trauma–And Our World” here: 👉 https://www.attunedbook.com/ ✨ Sign up for updates by visiting our website: 👉 https://pointofrelationpodcast.com V (formerly Eve Ensler) is the Tony award-winning playwright and author of the theatrical phenomenon, The Vagina Monologues.
