Wonder Woman 1984 is a film about longing. A major temptation when adapting comic book material is to sacrifice characters and emotionally resonant narratives for action sequences driven primarily by special effects and computer-generated images. While WW84 is not short on action, and the special effects are top-notch, the movie does not turn upon these sequences.
