In 2009, he became the first Canadian plastic surgeon to be elected to chair the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is also a Past President of the American Association for Hand Surgery, Past President of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, and Past Chairman of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) specialty committee of Plastic Surgery and the examination board in Plastic Surgery. He currently serves as the “Hand” Section Editor for PRS Global Open.
