She has conducted extensive anatomical research into new techniques for breast reconstruction, which has led to the revolutionary discovery of the SC-GAP and the LTP, which will probably be increasingly used as a technique for breast reconstruction in the coming years. She completed the first four years of her medical training in Varese, Italy, and the remaining two years in the Netherlands. She subsequently worked as a physician assistant at the Maastricht UMC+ and the Viecuri MC and since 2007 she has been working as a plastic surgeon at the Maastricht UMC+. She specializes in performing breast reconstructions, in particular breast reconstructions using the patient's own tissue. Another focus in her work is surgery on people with facial paralysis (congenital or as a result of a tumor or operation).
