Losing A Spouse to Suicide: Grief, Military Families, and Single Parenting with Andrew Coussens

Pulling Back the Curtain - A podcast by Natalie Hodson

Andrew Coussens was getting ready for his 22nd deployment when he found out his wife had taken her life.  Instantly, he became a single dad to his three young kids and had to figure out his “new normal” as he coped with grief, an entirely new day-to-day life, and parenting solo.  I had him on my podcast to talk about his new book “A Failed State” which is a fiction book that parallels his own experience with the military, the dynamic of deployment and how that impacts families, and more.   We dug deep into how to handle grief when you lose a loved one, what it’s like for military spouses, and single parenting. I had a blast on this podcast and I really think anyone who listens will relate to some or many parts of what we talked about.   Can’t wait for you to listen to it, it truly was a joy to have Andrew as a guest! - Natalie
