There have been 320 calls for snake bites in NSW from September 1 to December 20, a 35 per cent increase on the year prior. So, what's driving the rise? Dr Timothy Jackson, co-head of the Australian Venom Research Unit says while it's plausible warmer weather and increasing urban development are factors, longer term studies and patterns need to be observed first — and he warns that snakes are everywhere and greater awareness is key to coexist safely.
