The Federal Government will get sweeping new powers to block visitors from certain countries and jail non-citizens who refuse to leave Australia, after Labor and the Coalition struck a deal on new migration laws. The government says they're necessary after the High Court's decision in the NZYQ case, which led to a number of non-citizens with criminal records being released from immigration detention.
