85. Letting Go of Expectations: The Key to Better Parenting for Teenagers

Raising Happy Teens - A podcast by Jennifer Delliquadri - Wednesdays

In this episode, I discuss the importance of letting go of expectations as a parent. When we have expectations of who our children should be and what they should accomplish, we set ourselves up for disappointment and frustration. More importantly, we put pressure on our children to live up to our expectations, which can damage our relationship with them. Instead, it's important to focus on supporting your teenager and helping them to become the best versions of themself. This means allowing them to explore their own interests, make their own mistakes, and find their own way in the world. I'll discuss some of the common expectations that parents have of their teenagers, and why it's important to let go of them. I'll also provide tips for how to support your teenager and build a strong relationship with them.
