Raising Healthy Mothers - A podcast by Tasha D'Cruz - Wednesdays

Today I welcome Laura Coleman of Be.Modern Meditation onto the podcast. Laura is a meditation expert who started meditating when her own two children were quite young and discovered the profound, life-changing effects meditation had on her and her family. In this episode we talk about: How Laura started meditating and how it caused a powerful shift in her parenting method The science of meditation and the physiological changes your brain goes through when you meditate...and equally why it sometimes feels impossible to control our reactions How meditating can help mothers in the early days How to get started and stick to a routine This is the sort of episode I wish I could shout about from the rooftops and distribute to every mum as they leave the maternity ward, because I think it’s really just so important, and could make all the difference to how we experience motherhood.   I was really inspired to get going with a regular meditation practice after this episode, and I hope it inspires you too.   Laura's top tips to get started on meditation: Download the Insight Timer app and listen to her 5-minute meditation Set yourself a challenge to listen to the meditation once a day for three days or a week Find a community for support and accountability (Laura runs a free Facebook group) Start where you are - don't try and change your routine to make it happen; fit it into the day where you can naturally bolt on a meditation Let go of needing it to be perfect - do it wherever you are Since our interview, Laura has launched a free short course called Ninja Mind Skills Training Series which I highly recommend signing up to as a starting point!
