Character Challenge for Kids – Contentment

CHARACTER CHALLENGE FOR KIDS: CONTENTMENT Welcome to Day 3 of our Character Challenge Kids Camp!  Today we will be learning all about CONTENTMENT.  Be sure to follow along to get 7 days filled with meaningful and fun activities for your kids. Are your children never happy with what they have, but always wanting something bigger or better? One more toy, one more video game, one more piece of cake. Do you wish that your kids could learn to be content? Do you want to raise kids who are grateful, and not entitled? Then today’s story and activities are for you!  In our consumer-minded society, it’s difficult to teach our children to be content, when the world around them entices them with something bigger or newer or better. As much as I’d like to blame our society, the struggle with contentment started way back before shopping malls or Netflix or Amazon.  Contentment is primarily a heart issue, not a “stuff” issue. The Bible has a lot to say about contentment. Let’s start off our day of camp with a story.  GRUMBLING IN THE DESERT – A STORY ABOUT CONTENTMENT “If I have to eat one more bite of Manna, I’m going to throw up!” Ten-year-old Ephraim and his family have been traveling in the desert for weeks, and he is sick and tired of eating Manna every day. After his mom reminds him of all the ways God has blessed their family and taken care of them, Ephraim realizes the importance of being content with what God has given him. Or have you been looking forward to downloading the latest video game, but then you beat all the levels in one day and it’s not so fun anymore? Or maybe you’ve been wanting to save up to buy a new nerf gun, but then you found out that your neighbor just bought one that was twice as big?  All of these situations have to do with contentment. Contentment means being happy and satisfied with what you have and with who you are, without always wanting something newer, or bigger or better.  The Bible has a lot to say about being content. Let’s listen to a story about a little boy who had to learn a lesson about being content.
