Ep 074: Happiness from Within: Prioritizing Self-Worth over Body Image
Redefining You - A podcast by Amanda Cahill
On this episode of Redefining Motherhood, I discuss the importance of self-love and body positivity, especially during the summer months. Having struggled with body dysmorphia myself, I share my journey of learning to accept my post-baby body. I encourage listeners to prioritize happiness and self-care rather than letting societal standards dictate their self-worth. While it's important to take care of ourselves through exercise and nutrition, I emphasize that true fulfillment comes from within, not from achieving some unrealistic body ideal. I challenge listeners to get out of their own heads and stop engaging in negative self-talk. Instead, we should find gratitude for what our amazing bodies allow us to do and experience. Rather than dwelling on perceived flaws, I advocate enjoying life's moments like summer barbecues and pool parties. I also share how impactful it is for children to see their mothers loving themselves unconditionally. I also suggest an exercise for you to do for 30 days to help rewire negative thinking and start a daily habit of self-love.
