Looking for strategies to future proof your career and business in a world where uncertainty and disruption is becoming ever more common? Jonathan Brill, a futurist and author of "Rogue Waves", discussed this and much more with me on Episode 20 of the Reframe & Reset Your Career podcast. In this episode, we will learn about: How he studied Industrial Design and worked with Sony to build a museum for the future; Becoming the Global Futurist at Hewlett-Packard (“HP”); How to take advantage of disruption; What are Rogue Waves?; Preparing companies to cope with disruption; The ABCs of Resilient Growth – Awareness, Behaviour Change and Culture Change; Using simple tools to find solutions; Why timing, sequencing and hedging are important?; How Toyota used hedging to overcome supply issues; How Elon Musk & SpaceX disrupted the space travel market; Insights from basketball applicable to business; and Territory Studio and its work on blockbuster movies. Jonathan is a renowned expert on resilient growth and decision making under uncertainty. His insights are based on experience. As a senior leader and the Global Futurist at HP, he directed long-term strategy and intelligence programs. He is the Managing Director of Resilient Growth Partners and a board member at Frost & Sullivan, a major market intelligence firm with offices in 46 countries.  He is the Futurist-in-Residence at Territory Studio, the creative visionaries behind the sci-fi tech in Stephen Spielberg’s Ready Player One, Ghost in the Shell and Blade Runner 2049, where he creates products and better worlds for both super villains and real-life heroes. His new book, “Rogue Waves” was recently published, which looks at future proofing your business to survive & profit from radical change. Jonathan told me "I think that combination of really getting down to the root cause, understanding the reality and then understanding how you model systems around that, I think it's a really powerful combination and you don't need to be Elon Musk to do these things. So much of what he does, so much of what he suggests, so much what he thinks, of what he thinks about is how do we do it in a more simple way, what are the underlying structural issues?"    People Mentioned and Resources Anaïs Nin Elon Musk Shane Battier HBR article: https://www.jonathanbrill.com/recent/harvard-business-review-article-how-hp-turns-business-catastrophes-to-their-advantage Helen Keller Dorie Clark – The Long Game   Contact Jonathan https://www.jonathanbrill.com/  https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathanbrill1  https://twitter.com/jonathanbrill  https://www.facebook.com/jonathan.brill.752    Reframe & Reset Your Career Resources & Contact Info YouTube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/c/ReframeResetYourCareer  LinkedIn Page - https://www.linkedin.com/company/reframe-reset-your-career/?viewAsMember=true  E-mail - [email protected] It would be great to hear from you, the listeners, and your thoughts about the podcast, YouTube channel or just to say hello, it's always a pleasure to hear from you.
