Is the Church the Bride of Christ, or Israel?

Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth - A podcast by Dr. Paul Felter

Is the Church the Bride of Christ? I was taught from childhood, as you were too, that we the church, the body of Christ, are also the Bride of Christ.  Preachers and teachers refer to the church as the Bride of Christ dogmatically, as a pillar of our Christian beliefs.  I never seriously questioned the doctrine even though I could find no scripture passage from Paul, our apostle, calling us the Bride of Christ.  In fact, the phrase Bride of Christ, is nowhere in the KJB.In Rev. chapter 19 we read the phrase “marriage of the Lamb.”Revelation 19:7-8 KJV - "Let us be glad and rejoice and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints."Interesting that just 3 verses later the Lord leaves heaven on a white horse and comes to earth to rescue and redeem Israel leaving us, the church, in heaven.  Perhaps He is going to rescue the real bride, Israel.BreadofLife.media
