You Gotta Stomp

Rockabilly DJ - A podcast by Bill Smoker

What is DJing? An outing of feelings that have become twisted and warped in an unfriendly world. These feelings may not show on the surface. Take the Rockabilly DJ for instance. He doesn't seem much different from other DJs on his block. And yet it may well be that in his life he has never had the love and care that most people may give to a pet. So he has come to feel that the world is against him. A typical DJ? No, for people are never typical. In each person's personality are many hidden scars and many open wounds which the world cannot understand. A product of poverty, made worse by an upbringing devoid of affection or respect. Whatever the reasons, he has become an outsider - eaten away with resentment and a desperate urge to get even. Is it any wonder that in boredom and frustration he turns to the wanton playing of Rockabilly records? Mood music for vivacissimo vandalism from Bill Parker Band, True Blue Trio, Chandos McRill, KC Mojo Watson, Unk Art, Ronnie Dawson with High Noon & Lisa Pankratz, JohnnyKnight, Jake Calypso & Red Hot, Shelton Dunaway & Boogie Ramblers, LimiTEDS (featuring Crazy Cavan), Sammy Lara & Skytones, Johnny Cash, Hasil Adkins, Mike Bell & Belltones, Bellfuries, Carter Family, Royce Porter, Reggie Perkins, Planet Rockers, Curley Griffin, and Carl Newman.
