Simon Cochrane ("Ultraman" world record holder)
The Dom Harvey Podcast - A podcast by Dom Harvey
Simon Cochrane:A week before this podcast conversation took place, Simon Cochrane travelled from his home in Hamilton NZ to take part in the "Ultraman" event in Noosa as a relative unknown in this event. After 3 days of intense and brutal racing he not only won the event, he also SMASHED the world record. The Ultraman event is a crazy few days of racing. It was created in 1983 by some mad bastards who, I'm assuming, decided the Ironman distance was too easy LOL. This is what an Ultraman weekend looks like:Day 1: 10km ocean swim and a 145km bike ride.Day 2: 276-km bike ride.Day 3: 84-km run (double marathon). This is definitely an episode for the running and multi-sport nerds. But there are takeaways in this conversation for everyone. Including time management and how to get more out of yourself every day, and how you can change your situation if you aren’t happy with it and the importance of enjoying everything you do- and how that’s a mindset you can choose. As Simon says with his endurance events: “Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.”Thanks very much to my pals at Radix Nutrition for sponsoring this episode:https://radixnutrition.co.nz/ Hosted on Acast.
