Aristotle, Categories - Opinions, Statements, And Contraries - Sadler's Lectures

Sadler's Lectures - A podcast by Lectures on classic and contemporary philosophical texts and thinkers by Gregory B. Sadler

Categories:

This lecture discusses the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle' work, the Categories, focusing on his discussion in chapter 5 about whether statements (logoi) or opinions (doxai) admit of or have contraries, or not. His view is that while statements or opinions can be true or false - and these do seem to be contraries to each other - it is really the things themselves referred to in the statements or opinions that admit of contraries.
