This lecture discusses key ideas from the 18th century philosopher Immanuel Kant's work of ethics, The Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals. Specifically it examines Kant's discussion of the freedom of the will. In his view, the will is a type of causality that belongs to living rational beings, and freedom is a property of that causality, involving being able to determine or effect matters independently of other causes and physical (or psycho-social) laws.
