Immanuel Kant, Groundwork - Means, Ends, & Value - Sadler's Lectures

Sadler's Lectures - A podcast by Lectures on classic and contemporary philosophical texts and thinkers by Gregory B. Sadler

Categories:

This lecture discusses key ideas from the 18th century philosopher Immanuel Kant's work of ethics, The Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals. Specifically it examines his discussion about means, ends, and the human capacity to will, i.e. to set itself ends and to determine means to those ends. Examining how we value means and ends helps us to understand what sort of value a person has (or ought to have), which for Kant turns out to be something radically different than the value we ascribe to objects.
