This lecture discusses key ideas from the 20th century philosopher James Rachels' essay, The Challenge of Cultural Relativism, found in his Elements of Moral Philosophy. Specifically it examines whether we can or cannot criticize the practices or moral norms of other cultures or not. The relativist is committed to the view that we cannot - and should not - criticize them, without simply imposing our own culture's viewpoint. Rachels argues that this is mistaken.
