Eric served under the Obama Administration as a Presidential Innovation Fellow for AI and Robotics in the Executive Office of the President, with the sole authority for driving the agenda for United States leadership in research, commercialization and public adoption of AI & Robotics. “Don’t confuse a clear vision with a short time horizon.” Take the Jetsons, for example. We had a clear vision of a robot who would do all these things. Nowadays, we have a Roomba. AI will be most successful when deployed in very structured environments. On AI and consciousness, “this will certainly not happen in the next 10-20 years, if ever.
