This and next week we want to give you and me a bit of a break from Corona. We will continue the Resilience and Recovery series here shortly with great episodes featuring SAP Customer Experience President Bob Stutz, Celonis Chief Product Officer Hala Zeine and others. But for this and next week we want to break out of the COVID monoculture a bit to talk about a different topic. I was approached within the last tho months almost daily and asked for guidance “How to make a podcast” and these mails keep on coming. It is quite obvious, that this medium has come quite into the spotlight since especially in quarantine situation , people look for virtual channels. So I fired up Zoom and connected with Podcasting Legend Stephen Spears whom you may already know from Episode 22 and each of us grabbed a beer to discuss all about podcasting to give you the best possible guidance on how to start a podcast. Since this is a huge topic, we divided our conversation into two parts. So today we will start with Why doing a podcast, we dig down to the Best Practices concerning our podcasting setup, topic selection, target group, getting guests, the format length and structure and the Best Practices and Mistakes that are common and you should avoid. Then in Part two we will geek out about the technical and hardware setup, postproduction and hosting. So basically everything we learned on our podcasting journey.
