[59] Building a Meaningful Business in the Wake of Trauma

Freedom Friendly Business - A podcast by Josephine Brooks

Syreeta and her partner Rob were just a normal couple living in Hong Kong, pursuing creative careers when, in 2014, Rob suddenly suffered a near-fatal brain haemorrhage and stroke while on holiday in Sydney. Their lives were turned upside down in an instant. Rob was left paralysed on his right side and with Aphasia which affects his speech, and Syreeta had to deal with the complexities of becoming a full time carer as well as Robs partner.  Syreeta started her blog as a creative outlet and as a place to deal with the trauma through writing, imagery and song. This served as base when they joined forces to create their brand, Moments of Sense and Style (MOSS). The brand was formed as a way to create light out of darkness, an innovative and conceptual approach to dealing with life changing events. In this episode I chat to Syreeta about her and Rob’s story and how they’ve grown a hugely meaningful business in the wake of trauma.
