Episode 39: Hiding in Spacesuits
Something Who - A podcast by Richard Smith
Categories:
Gav surprises us all with his return to the Something Who bunker, perhaps drawn by the siren call of wine and science. Along with Paul, Giles and Richard he discusses two Doctor Who stories with a connection to 1969: Third Doctor story The Ambassadors of Death, which was written in that year, and Eleventh Doctor outing The Impossible Astronaut / Day of the Moon, which is set in 1969, both with strong links to the space programmes of that era. We try to stay on topic, but inevitably we stray into programmes of the same era and we give Amy's Crack a particularly thorough examination. Oddly, despite the fact that everybody had a go writing Ambassadors, it's Moffat's episodes that seem to have the most loose threads. Please like or share our podcast with people who will enjoy it, so we can build our listener base high for happiness. You can rate us directly on Apple Podcasts or Podchaser.com The teaser clip that Giles refers to in the episode is here: https://youtu.be/dDhmZwiS-0g Gav's book Doctor Who: Dalek Combat Training Manual can be found here (other retailers are available) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1785945327/ref=cm_sw_r_u_apa_fabc_FxBdGbD82685Z Also find his excellent YouTube series Terry Nation Army here: https://youtube.com/user/Dalek6388 The opening music is Three Guitars Mood 2 and, yes, that is Richard playing the ukulele and kazoo on possibly the worst ever version of the Doctor Who theme tune at the end.
