Episode #97: This Dream Will Do (Song starts at 5:24) Hi there, this episode is packed with all sorts. I've been on a holiday, camping beside the ocean for a couple of weeks. It was brilliant. I include some voice recordings I did while I was there. So you get to come on holiday with me on this episode. How does that pertain to songwriting? (I hear you ask). Well, when I go away and have a break, every time I come home and rest my fingers on the keys of my piano it seems there are songs waiting in line to come through. You build up momentum, it seems, on this creative path. Along the way you are rewarded with songs (if you commit to being a songwriter). About 1 in 5 sort of seem to be a bit ‘better'. It's a bit like fishing. If you're lucky, you catch a few small ones. But now and then you catch a beauty. So those are possible outcomes. Of course, the journey is the thing. I believe the process of writing a song should be a joy. That's how it feels to be a songwriter. I don't think this is some sort of exclusive domain for the chosen few. I’d like to see more people doing it.. One of my aims of this podcast to hopefully encourage/ inspire other songwriters - or anyone who might tune in to see what's going on. What's going on, on this episode is: Song #614, This Dream Will Do. A sense of acceptance came through loud and clear, about where I was at, at the stage of my life when I wrote this song: I was grateful, for how things were. This rings true for how I feel this week too. Art and music is an amazing place of timeless reflection, to me. It's a pleasure to be exploring the songwriting process here. I enjoy having a chat, playing the piano as I go along. I also improvise a piece on the piano, then look at where each section came from. I’m finding recording these episodes a fascinating creative process. I’ enjoying it so much. I hope you enjoy This Dream Will Do. You can find it on the album Walking Through A Dream ( streaming now) which features songs co-written by myself and Paul Dredge. We have all but finished a new album, by the way. The 3rd mix is done. ..very excited about this, because I'm passionate about what I'm up to. And that includes putting these podcast episodes together each week. It's fun and it's inspiring for me. I hope it is for you, too. You can see the painting I talk about, the lyrics to This Dream + other art and music on this week’s blog post, The Prom (part 1). here: www.petepascoe.wordpress.com
