This is my last episode of 2020! Roberts will officially be next week! Woohoo! Today we talked about some commonly used expressions to use when having a conversation in American English.

Summary:

You may express your opinion or an idea by starting off your sentence by saying...

  • Personally, I think that...
  • In my opinion…
  • Here’s what I think…
  • Actually, I think that…
  • I know how you feel
  • I would love to run an idea by you

You may express that you understood them by saying:

  • I gotcha (slang)
  • Saying things twice so like: Alright alright, mk mk, great great, cool cool
  • I hear you
  • Roger that (Someone may remember when the B1 Battle Droids say roger roger)
  • Got it
  • You betcha

You may express agreement by saying:

  • So good
  • That’s perfect
  • I know, right?
