Episode 141 PROPELLER by GUIDED BY VOICES with Ian Shelton (of Militarie Gun)

SPINNING OUT PODCAST - A podcast by Josh Robbins - Mondays

Spinning Out (another music podcast) We talk to artists about their favorite albums and go on wild tangents. Welcome to Spinning Out, I'm your host Josh Robbins. This is a podcast where we talk to guests about their favorite albums. This week on the pod I talked with Ian Shelton of the band Militarie Gun. We talked about Guided By Voices' fifth album PROPELLER. This chat happened the night before he left for their European tour and a couple days before the album dropped. We chat about putting in the work, obsessively studying music, and how imitation is the best form of flattery. As you're more than likely aware, Ian has spent time playing in Regional Justice Center, Self Defense Family and another favorite of mine, Seattle's New Gods. But of course, check out the debut Militarie Gun album, "Life Under the Gun." It's really amazing seeing where Ian has taken this project in such a relatively short period of time. I'm really digging the new album. Check that out wherever you stream music and also directly from the band. https://militariegun.bandcamp.com/album/life-under-the-gun Follow us on social media -- twitter and instagram (@Spinningoutpod) Subscribe to our Patreon here: www.patreon.com/spinningoutpod Follow us on social media -- twitter and instagram (@Spinningoutpod)
