Spinning Out (another music podcast) We talk to artists about their favorite albums and go on wild tangents. This week's guest is my new friend Phil Ward aka Lord Warddd. We chatted about the 1984 hip-hop compilation Street Sounds Electro 4. Once again, I've broken my personal rule of covering compilations, but this was too interesting to pass up. Street Sounds Electro 4 isn't available for streaming on Spotify, but you can check out the full compilation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b37WCOv3QWU Phil talks about how influential this compilation was in his musical journey, and opens my mind about early hip-hop, techno, electro, dance music, as well as Northern Soul. Phil also was in the band, Lo Fidelity Allstars, in the mid to late 90s. They are most known for their 1998 debut album, "How to Operate With a Blown Mind," which featured the song "Battle Flag", featuring Pigeonhed. That song was featured on tv shows such as ER, Sopranos, and films such as, Coyote Ugly, Very Bad Things, Drillbit Taylor and much more. Phil Ward makes music under the name Lord Warddd, which recently released an "The Virtual Bison EP," on Plastic Miracles records.
