Episode 99 READ MUSIC SPEAK SPANISH by DESAPARECIDOS with Joey Siara (of Near Beer)
SPINNING OUT PODCAST - A podcast by Josh Robbins
Categories:
Spinning Out (another music podcast) We talk to artists about their favorite albums and go on wild tangents. Today we're talking with Joey Siara of the band Near Beer & previously of the band Henry Clay People. We talked about Desaparecidos' 2002 album "Read Music / Speak Spanish." We talk about the impact 9/11 had on this album, on American culture as a whole & why this album still resonates with us, twenty years later. We also talk about how much guitar music still has such a big impact in our lives, as well as knowing when to grow socially, emotionally, politically and not just stay some version of yourself from years past. Near Beer released their s/t debut album recently on Double Helix Records. Check out the album wherever you do streaming and pick up a copy on vinyl from the label, right now! Interestingly enough, we didn't talk about it on the pod but Joey's brother (Andy) directed the movie Palm Springs, which you can watch on Hulu. They also both recently released a show called The Resort which is streaming right NOW on Peacock. So go check that out! https://nearbeerla.com/ https://doublehelixrecords.bandcamp.com/artists
