Teacher or Master

Each generation tries to forget the traumas it has endured and, in so doing, becomes more likely to inflict trauma on the next generation.  This is a quote from Pattrice Jones, author of Aftershock:  Confronting Trauma in a Violent World. Look all around you and you'll see ample evidence of suffering, violence, and trauma.  Of course, that's not the only thing you'll see.  You'll also see examples of joy, peacefulness, and beauty. In this episode we'll consider the question of whether life is your teacher or your master.  If your interaction with life is as teacher and  student, great!  You're on the right track toward a successful life. If, however, your relationship to life is as master and slave, you're in a terrible position; one you must extract yourself from if you hope to have any chance at a successful life. Join me as we consider these two paradigms of life and learn how to position yourself to make life your teacher and not your master.
