Find a way that works for you, but be sure to read the Gospels. 24:47 – Luke introduces his message with a caution to present the things “most surely believed.” 29:24 – Matthew’s lineage of the Savior highlights five important women: Mary, Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba. These women played a vital role in the survival of Israel. 36:00 – Matthew may have purposefully listed the genealogical line of Jesus with three sets of 14, indicating to his Jewish audience that Jesus is the Davidic king. 37:34 – John the Baptist prepares the world for Jesus. Mary prepares Jesus for the world. Elizabeth and Zacharias are blessed with a son named John in their old age. 40:23 – John’s attributes exemplify ways that we can be a positive influence in the world. 50:25 – An angel comes to visit Mary in Nazareth and tells her that she will be the mother of the Son of God. He is to be named Jesus. 53:39 – Jesus is both fully God and man. Only he had the power to lay down his own life and the power to take it again. 57:25 – Mary had a sacred assignment and a significant role as the mother of the Son of God.
