He breaks his bow and makes a new one.(07:32) Ishmael’s death causes many in the family to murmur.(15:23) Nephi possesses the accoutrements of kingship, which may help demonstrate that he and his successors have the right to rule. The sword of Laban, the Brass Plates, and the Liahona may be associated with the Israelite Ark of the Covenant.(24:26) Nephi is commanded to build a boat, but his brethren oppose him. The Lord shocks Laman and Lemuel into obedience.(39:41) As they journey across the waters, Nephi’s brothers bind him with cords. After being threatened with death from a great storm, they loose Nephi’s bonds.(42:58) These passages illustrate Nephi’s ascent. He becomes a king and brings his people into a state of abundance and fertility.(44:13) Nephi makes a second set of plates for a wise purpose known unto the Lord.(48:32) 1 Nephi 19.10 testifies that the ancient prophets saw Jesus in vision. Zenock, Neum and Zenos are examples of prophets who saw Jesus and his Atonement.
