Episode 37: Sleeper (1973)

"I'm not really the heroic type.  I was beat up by Quakers." Before the scandal that almost ruined his career and before he wrote and directed enough films to fill a library, Woody Allen was (next to Mel Brooks) the king of American comedy cinema. Sleeper, his sardonic take on the evolution of lifestyles and politics in the distant, has all the trademarks that made Allen so popular: his self-deprecating and sardonic wit, slapstick, and common co-star Diane Keaton.  It's a hilarious look at the early career of one of the most prolific American directors.
