So social, do you believe in fate?00:01:00XochitlDo I believe in fate well?00:01:05XochitlIt This one is kind of hard. I don't think there is a predetermined state or destiny.00:01:14XochitlBut I think there's kind of like a butterfly effect which for our listeners who don't know what that is, it's like a scientific term to describe how like a butterfly flaps its wings and it causes a chain of different reactions that leads up to.00:01:34XochitlSome big thing. It could be like a.00:01:38XochitlLike a hurricane, I think is the biggest example is, yeah.00:01:41JackRight, like a like a butterfly flaps its wings in Brazil, and there's a hurricane in Florida because of that. You know something?00:01:52XochitlYes, I think I believe kind of in like a butterfly effect with their personal choices like we could.00:01:52JackLike that, yeah.00:02:02XochitlIt's like yesterday I went out for a I went out to a party cause it's Mexico's Independence Day.00:02:09XochitlAnd and it's like a butterfly effect because say you go out and you get robbed.00:02:21XochitlThen you lost all your money for the month, or you go out and you meet the love of your life and you end up getting married to them like it's just so weird, because making one little choice like will I go out today or tomorrow?00:02:42XochitlOr am I going to go to the grocery store right now and you across the street and get hit by a car or you go to the grocery store and you're the 100th customer and they give?00:02:53XochitlYou $1,000,000.00:02:55XochitlJust like you just.00:02:56XochitlNever know where life is gonna take you on some really tiny decision.00:02:57발표자OK.00:03:02XochitlAnd I've read a lot about that, like people who said they were a few minutes late to work, so they missed 9/11, which for our viewers who aren't familiar, was a really huge tragedy in the United States. That happened when I was still in diapers. But the planes crashed in the Twin Towers and a lot.00:03:19XochitlOf people died and.00:03:22XochitlA lot of people talk about how they were minutes late to work and missed.00:03:26XochitlDying and getting killed and caught up in that horrible disaster because of just like, ohh, their alarm didn't go off or their alarm did go off. So they took five extra minutes in the shower or they burned their toes and made some new.00:03:40XochitlToast. So yeah. How about you, Jack?00:03:43XochitlDo you believe in fate?00:03:45JackYeah, I mean, I definitely should because.00:03:50JackFor, I think I told the story of How I Met my wife, but we we met at a school, but we were only friends at that time. We we weren't dating and.00:04:03JackAnd then I I left Korea and I went to another country and she went to another country. And it wasn't until two years later.00:04:15JackWhen I was just walking on the street in Seoul.00:04:19JackThat I ran into her in a city of however many million people there are in Korea.00:04:24XochitlLike 10 of people or something.00:04:27JackJust by chance because I didn't have her phone number. I didn't have her e-mail. I had no way to to contact her.00:04:34JackAnd no idea if I would ever see her again, and suddenly we just ran into each other, started talking on the phone and started dating, and now we've been married for 17 years. So I think it's pretty hard for me to dismiss the idea of.00:04:54Jack8 although I don't know who's controlling it.00:04:55발표자Right.00:04:59JackYou know, is this like some the universe or uh God or whatever you.00:05:06JackKnow is that.00:05:07JackI I don't know what that means exactly. The idea of fate, but maybe I feel like we were destined to be together.00:05:17JackOr I could be totally wrong and it was just it's just chance. It's like winning the lottery. You know, I won the lottery. I just happened to be there at the right place at the right time. So I don't know. I guess at the.00:05:17발표자Right.00:05:32JackEnd of the day, I mean I'm kind of.00:05:34JackOf I don't have any evidence to support it other than my own personal story, but I like to think that like what you said, is that just I'm the fact that I decided to go out that one day to that one place and I happened to meet the love of my life and end up getting married.00:05:55JackIt's like it's compounding on one decision compounds and gets bigger and bigger and bigger until it changes your whole life. SO1 tiny decision. Hey, do you want to go out today change the.00:06:09JackDirection of my life, which is really cool. It's I think that and maybe maybe that's what we call fate is just when those decisions turn into something big, we kind of.00:06:24JackReverse engineer it into fate. And it's just, yeah.00:06:27XochitlYes, because sorry, go ahead.00:06:29JackNo, no, that's it. That's it.00:06:31XochitlI was just going to say I think that that's true because there's like an infinitesimal amount, just like an infinite amount of different.00:06:41XochitlThings like that that happen. For example, if you had run into her and you guys were just acquaintances and you didn't talk again, it would have just been like a weird coincidence.00:06:53JackRight.00:06:54XochitlBut because you guys got married, it's like ohh. It's fate in a way. And I I think that your story is really cool. But again, I think it's like a it's a butterfly effect. Like there's no.00:06:59발표자Right.00:07:07XochitlI like to think that it's like the work we put into it in a way, because you had that second chance and you took advantage of it to, you know, date her like you took that opportunity that you got. And and I feel like sometimes fate.00:07:27XochitlThe idea of the concept of fate or destiny leads us not to take responsibility for our personal choices or also not like push ourselves as hard because we think if it was meant to happen, it would happen. And I think it really comes down to what you do with opportunities that you're given.00:07:44발표자 3OK.00:07:44JackYes, I think that I think I said this before in another podcast.00:07:48JackBut luck is when.00:07:52JackPreparation meets opportunity, right is that, you know, it's a lot of people just attribute.00:07:58JackCertain things success that people have to luck. Ohh you just got lucky. But it was it was all the work that the person did before that opportunity presented itself that prepared them for.00:08:12JackThat moment, and then that's what we call luck. And I think that I don't really. Yeah. So maybe I don't really believe in luck and I.00:08:20JackDon't really believe in.00:08:21JackFate. I think it has more to.00:08:23JackDo with our.00:08:25JackThe decisions you make after that, that moment you you meet that person, you.00:08:33JackGet that job and then what?00:08:35JackDo you do with it?00:08:37JackAnd that's the important thing. So yeah.00:08:37XochitlRight.00:08:40XochitlRight. So if you, umm, believe in faith or don't or there's a similar concept in your country or culture, make sure to let us know in a comment down below.
