The A to Z English Podcast - A podcast by Jack McBain

Categories:

In this episode of The A to Z English Podcast, Jack reads three more amazing stories from around the world. The Phone Booth in the Middle of the Desert (California, USA):Deep in the Mojave Desert in California stands an isolated phone booth, known as the "Mojave Phone Booth." This phone booth, miles away from any civilization, became an unexpected cultural phenomenon in the late 1990s and early 2000s. People would trek out to the desert just to answer calls from random strangers or to make calls to friends and family, creating an unplanned and unconventional means of human connection in an unlikely location. The phone booth was eventually removed in 2000, but its memory lives on.The Underwater Post Office (Vanuatu):Located off the coast of Vanuatu in the South Pacific Ocean is the world's first and only underwater post office. Visitors can don snorkeling gear and dive down to the underwater post office, which is about three meters underwater. They can then mail waterproof postcards to friends and family around the world. The concept was created to promote tourism in the region and has become a unique attraction for adventurous travelers looking to send mail from beneath the sea.The Kingdom of Talossa (United States):In 1979, a teenager named Robert Ben Madison from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, declared his bedroom an independent nation and named it the Kingdom of Talossa. He created a fictional language, culture, and government, and even printed his own currency. Over the years, Talossa gained a small online following, and more people began to join and participate in its unique micronation experiment. Despite its playful origins, Talossa developed into a full-fledged micronation with its own constitution, laws, and citizens. While not officially recognized by any government, the Kingdom of Talossa remains an example of how a creative idea can evolve into a quirky, self-contained community in the digital age.Podcast Website: https://atozenglishpodcast.com/a-to-z-quick-tok-19-unbelievable-true-stories-from-around-the-world-2/Social Media:Threadshttps://threads.com/invitation/34520051596/RLLHXJPPFMTFXUHE5NSUT6OLMUSSLEJBUI227Z6DXCO2XVBOWQCK7N4UA to Z Facebook Page:https://www.facebook.com/theatozenglishpodcastTik Tok:@atozenglish1Instagram:@atozenglish22Twitter:@atozenglish22Check out the Free Online English Lessons YouTube channel:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCds7JR-5dbarBfas4Ve4h8ADonate to the show: https://app.redcircle.com/shows/9472af5c-8580-45e1-b0dd-ff211db08a90/donationsRobin and Jack started a new You Tube channel called English Word Master.
