Transcript:00:00:00You're listening to the A-Z English podcast.00:00:12JackWelcome to the.00:00:13JackA-Z English podcast My name is Jack and.00:00:15JackI am.00:00:17JackThe host of the podcast social is not with me right now, but I am lucky enough to have my friends, may Leila and.00:00:24JackHendrick guest hosting?00:00:26JackToday and to me actually brought this question to me and I thought it was such a good question that we had to do an episode about this question. And the question is, do you believe in the importance of second chances? So do you believe?00:00:46JackIn the importance of second chances and I think while since May is the one who brought this to me, I'm gonna let you take the first crack at it here. May what do you think?00:01:01JackDo you believe in the importance of second chances?00:01:05MayI I would say yes, everyone should be given second chance.00:01:11MayA second chance.00:01:14MayThis is.00:01:21MayWe will speak our life.00:01:25MaySecond chances is actually to give an opportunity for us to.00:01:32MayBecome better and.00:01:35MayI mean improve.00:01:38MaySo that they don't repeat the course mistake again.00:01:41MayAnd then.00:01:45MayAnother thing I would like to say is the first time we we don't lose.00:01:51MayThey didn't manage to achieve.00:01:55MayOK.00:01:56MayMaybe we can.00:01:59MayWait. Second at at the second time. So for that reason, I believe everyone should be given second chance.00:02:07MayMaybe first, maybe during the first time we we you know we we don't have the idea of of what it is about.00:02:15MaySo unless if.00:02:17MayUnless it is, if the case is the serious matter, so that is, there will be another subject so. But other than that I think.00:02:29MayEveryone should be given a second chance.00:02:32JackOK, OK.00:02:33JackAll right. There we go. So you think everyone should be given a second chance? And Leila, what do you think about this one?00:02:38LaylaYeah, you're right.00:02:41LaylaYeah, in my opinion, I believe, uh, we have to to have another chance or maybe second chance. But as you know, there are some cases that already we couldn't be have a second chance.00:03:01LaylaWe only have one chance. We couldn't take advantage of that chance and do our best. Absolutely. We will end with the very bad results. So in general, we should have a second chance, for example.00:03:20LaylaAnd I made mistake my teachers, my dad should forgive me about that. When I did it for the first time. But there there are another case.00:03:33LaylaWe couldn't. I don't know how to to explain that, but sometimes in your job you couldn't have another chance.00:03:44LaylaSo there are some specific situation maybe I could have mentioned them or I couldn't remember them at this moment, but as I mentioned in general.00:03:54LaylaWe should have.00:03:56JackYeah, I think what you mean is like, for example, if an employee steals something from, like, a steals a computer from the company, there's no second chance the company will fire you and you're finished, right? There's so some things are too.00:04:11JackThey're too bad, or there's they're too big a mistake and there is no second chance.00:04:15발표자Yeah. So.00:04:18JackBut but generally speaking, you believe people deserve a second chance if they make a mistake.00:04:25LaylaYes, yes, I believe in that. Exactly as you mentioned that, Jack.00:04:30JackYeah. OK, I got you. I think you I think may was saying the same thing. I think you guys are in agreement. Let's jump to Hendrick. Kendrick, what do you think? Do you believe that or do you think that people deserve a second chance?00:04:44HendrickYeah. So for me, I also believe that it's better to give like a second chance for people. Yeah. And, you know, like, yeah, a lot of people, I mean, like, people, they are making mistakes and.00:05:02HendrickSometimes we we have to give like the second change for the people, so maybe maybe we just give their, you know, the chance, the change for them to learn from their mistake before and then they can, you know, like prove it in the second place.00:05:19JackOK. Yeah, yeah. I mean, are there some cases where people don't deserve a second chance?00:05:27HendrickYeah, yeah, I think, yeah, sometimes. Like, if it like a big mistake, you know, like for example like.00:05:36HendrickSomething that the case is really huge, like you explained, four person like this people that they steal something from the audience.00:05:45HendrickOr something like that.00:05:47HendrickLike this would be killed and yeah.00:05:50HendrickWe we just give the second chance for, you know, like people or that make like the small mistake.00:05:58JackYeah. Right. Right. We're so there's different degrees of mistakes. So like, like crimes, we would say probably no. You don't deserve a second chance. If you commit a crime, you have to in English, we say if you commit a crime, you have to do the time.00:06:16JackDo the crime. You do the time. You know you have to go to jail or whatever. May I have one more? I'm gonna jump around one more time in a.00:06:26JackMichael here and I have a question for May. May is there anything that like just from like a friend's like a relationship with a friend is there, is there anything that your friend can do to make you not give them a second chance?00:06:43MayWhen it comes to a situation.00:06:46MayWhere a person for instance.00:06:50MayIt was sent to. They're sending graphs pointed so that is too critical for us to give.00:06:57MayA second chance.00:06:58MayMaybe they hit someone on the road and family members die or injured so that one, I think for two seconds.00:07:09MayNo second chance should be able.00:07:11JackOK. And when there's like, if somebody gets hurt or somebody gets killed or someone is selling drugs or committing really bad crimes, then you you've you're not in favor of a second chance. You think that's the one, one chance. OK.00:07:25MayThere's no reason to give them a second chance for these cases involve human life.00:07:29JackOK, OK.00:07:36JackRight.00:07:36MaySo we should be give them a second.00:07:40JackOK, when it when?00:07:41JackIt involves the the health of a human life. Yes. OK. You say no. No. Second chance. Leila, what about you? Do you believe there are some situations where no second chance?00:07:52JackLike like what about?00:07:53JackLike in your relationships with your friends. Like if your friend lies to you, is that something you can forgive and give a second chance, or is that?00:08:00JackLike the end of the relationship, how? How, how?00:08:06JackWould you deal with that?00:08:09LaylaIn some cases, for example, when they cheated me or lay at me about a very serious issue or matter. In that case, I think it's really hard to give them a second chance. So so just simple issues.00:08:29LaylaOr maybe normal problems? Yeah, absolutely we have.00:08:33LaylaTo give them second chance.00:08:35LaylaBut in a very, very sad.00:08:37LaylaThis, for example one for my friend just cheated me on my boyfriend on reading my husband. I think it's really hard to forgive her or.00:08:51LaylaGive her a second chance.00:08:53JackRight. OK. So in the in the?00:08:57JackIn the event of a very serious betrayal against you know, your friend betraying you very seriously, then it's very hard to give a second chance. In that case, I think a second chance.00:09:10JackIs not possible, yeah.00:09:13JackAll right, Hendrick, what do you think?00:09:14JackAbout this situation.00:09:15JackWhen with like talking about friendships, my friend lies to you about a serious thing. Not just like, did you eat my cookie? No, I didn't. But they did eat my cookie. That's OK. That's a small lie. Right? But what about a serious lie?00:09:31HendrickYeah, exactly. So for me to be honest, I don't really like people who like to lie. So yeah, I think if someone lies to me, I think I won't forgive.00:09:45HendrickThis person, or maybe it's hard for me to give them to give this person like the second chance.00:09:52JackOK, alright. Well, I think I'm exact. My answer is exactly the same as your answers. I think it's case by case right? So in some situations I'm willing to give people a second chance if they really feel sorry about their mistake and they know what they did wrong and how they.00:10:11JackMaybe hurt me.00:10:12JackOr offended me in some way, they have to correct that mistake. However, in some situations the mistake is so large and so, so bad that I cannot forgive or forget that and I cannot give them a second chance because I feel like.00:10:33JackIf I give them a second chance, they will do the same thing again and again and again and again. And so only one chance for those big situations. Important, serious situations. And if you break the.00:10:49JackBreak the promise or break the trust. Then I can't give you a second chance, but thank you so much guys for helping me with this episode. This is a great one mate. Thank you so much for bringing this one and.00:11:02JackAll right.
