My name is Betsy Pake, and I’m an author, speaker, and a master mindset coach focused on helping you understand and design your life with the power of your subconscious. This podcast is designed to help you think differently about what could be possible for your life. Now, let’s go live big. Hello fellow adventurers, welcome to Monday’s episode. This is live big with Betsy, this is the intention setting episode for the week. You know, I was scrolling through Facebook the other day, and somebody had a post that they had, they had typed up and used one of those fancy backgrounds, you know, and it was a bit controversial, they were saying something that was definitely taking a stand. And lots of people were chiming in. And the way that they wrote it was quite compelling. And in fact, at first I was like, oh, gosh, I didn’t realize that. And I caught myself. Because I, I know better. I’m actually trained in what they were talking about and and what they were saying, I don’t believe there’s science to support it. And I realized that there was a time whether it was political posts or sciency posts or just opinion posts, where I would see something and I would go, Oh, I didn’t know that that’s true. And taken everybody else’s thoughts and beliefs as my own. And it’s really, I’m sorry to say but probably only over the last like eight to 10 years that I really started to take a look at that and go Wait a second. Is that really what I think? Is that what I believe? Does that jive? And does that fit in with everything else that I believe? Does that belief that I’m being shown? Does that support the goals and dreams that I have? And so this week, I just want you to become a really great gatekeeper for what you’re allowing in. I want you to investigate, in your own mind the things that you’re reading, and thinking about what you see. And if you’re just absorbing those things as fact, because maybe it’s somebody you trust that’s writing it or somebody that you like or admire a parent maybe? Or is it because you really believe it? And there’s a fine line here? It’s very tricky, I think, because we’re designed to soak in things and be part of the tribe. And part of being part of the tribe is believing like others in the tribe, right? And so it was sort of alarming to me when I had that moment where I was like, oh, How weird is that? I read that post and I thought, where does that fit. And then I was like, it doesn’t fit. And it’s okay, if things don’t fit. And in fact, on social media, it’s okay, if they don’t fit and you just scroll right by, you can take it right out of your thoughts. You don’t have to stew over it or wonder about it anymore. When you become very clear about what you believe and what you want for your life, it will become really easy for you to notice when something begins to slip through. So this week, I offer you the intention of becoming your own best gatekeeper. Notice, even when you have a thought, is that my thought or is that something I picked up? We’re also susceptible to it. Sometimes I’ll notice that I’ll say something that sounds like a quote. And I realized that it is it’s something that I saw on a meme somewhere. And I have to check myself and say, wait a second, is that something I want to allow in? So what are you letting in? What are you absorbing? What are you spending too much time being frustrated with?
